Exam Accommodations

Purpose

KRYTERION is strongly committed to supporting our clients' and candidates' accommodation requests. The processes KRYTERION has developed to manage and fulfill accommodation requests are outlined below.

Please note that these processes can vary depending on whether the request is for an exam delivered at a Kryterion Testing Network (KTN) center or delivered using our online proctored exam (OLP) services.

Advance Notice Required

All KTN center accommodation requests should be submitted with a minimum of 30 days’ notice.

All OLP exam accommodation requests should be submitted with a minimum of 15 days' advance notice.

KRYTERION cannot guarantee that an accommodation request can be fulfilled.

Getting Started with Accommodations

An exam accommodation is any request that requires a customer support advocate (CSA), Kryterion Credentialed Proctor (KCP), or an Online Proctor to disregard a standard procedure. Prepare your exam catalog(s) by following the guidance below prior to submitting an accommodation request:

  • Identify the list of exams you offer through Webassessor.

  • Create an Extended Time exam catalog.

  • Clone each exam you offer through Webassessor.

  • Assign each of the cloned exams to your Extended Time catalog.

  • Each exam name should be labeled with an acronym and parentheses added to the name as follows: Example Exam Name (ET)

  • These exams should be registered by an admin only.

  • These exams will only offer the candidate extended time during the exam and should not be used for specific accommodations outside of added time.

  • KRYTERION recommends that test sponsors extend the amount of time a candidate is allowed for completion of an exam delivered as part of an extended time accommodation by 50%.

  • Next, create a Special Accommodation catalog.

  • Clone each of the exams in your Extended Time catalog.

  • Assign each of the cloned exams to your Special Accommodation catalog.

  • Each exam name should be labeled with an acronym and parentheses added to the name as follows: Example Exam Name (SA)

  • These exams should be registered by an admin only.

  • These exams will offer the candidate extended time and accommodations focused toward their needs.

  • The exam’s Proctor Instructions should reference that this cloned exam is a special accommodation.

Private Room

  • Required for any exam using a service provider.

  • Private room fees will vary by testing center.

Food/Water/Medical Equipment

  • For candidates that would like to have access to food / water / medical equipment, KRYTERION will request approval from the center. Most test centers will only allow this outside of the testing room (at proctor station) and the candidate will have access during the exam.

Screen Reading Software and Screen Magnification Requests:

  • If the available alternatives still do not meet the candidate’s needs, we can ship a laptop with JAWS and ZoomText. This service includes a fee.

  • Laptop shipments are only available within the United States.
